Cat Sitter in Las Vegas, Your Cat Stays in Their Own Territory

Cats are territorial, not social. Moving them to a cattery is usually more stressful than you being away. I come to your home instead, across Las Vegas, Henderson and Summerlin.

Cat at home during a Las Vegas cat sitting visit

Why Cats Do Better at Home

I’m Daniel Gillespie, a 38-year Las Vegas resident. With dogs the question is usually company. With cats it’s almost always territory, and that changes what good care looks like.

A cat in a cattery has lost its map: its smells, its hiding places, its windows, its routine. Most cats respond by going quiet and eating less. A cat at home has all of that, and the only thing missing is you. Drop-in visits cover the gap without taking the rest away.

It also means I see the house every visit, so the mail comes in, the plants get watered, and a problem gets caught while you’re still away.

What Cat Sitting Includes

Cat visits are usually shorter and more frequent than dog bookings. Here is what each one covers.

Feeding and fresh water

Wet and dry on their normal schedule, bowls washed, and water changed properly rather than topped up.

Litter trays

Scooped every visit and changed when it needs it. Litter tray condition is also the clearest early sign that something is wrong with a cat.

Eyes on, every time

A shy cat hiding is normal. A cat that hasn’t eaten or used the tray is not. I check for both rather than just filling a bowl and leaving.

Medication and vet runs

Pills and drops on schedule, and if something needs a vet I can get your cat there rather than waiting for you to land.

The house too

Mail and packages in, plants watered, blinds and lights looking normal, and a quick walkthrough each visit.

Overnight if you want it

Most cats do not need it, but it’s available if your cat is very attached, very young, or recovering from something.

How Often Does a Cat Need Visits?

One visit a day suits most healthy adult cats on a short trip. Two a day is better for kittens, seniors, cats on medication, multi-cat households, or any cat that eats wet food and shouldn’t have it sitting out in Las Vegas heat.

What I would not recommend is leaving a cat alone for a week with a big bowl of dry food and an automatic feeder. It usually works right up until it doesn’t, and nobody is there on the day it doesn’t. I’ve written honestly about that in can you leave a cat alone for a week.

Drop-in visits are the lightest option I offer, and every booking is quoted personally. Send your dates through the contact form and I’ll call you back with a quote. See house sitting and pet sitting costs in Las Vegas for what goes into it.

Common Questions

How much does a cat sitter cost in Las Vegas?

Every booking is quoted personally. Drop-in visits are the lightest option, and most cats need one or two a day. The quote depends on visits per day, how many cats, and whether anyone needs medication. Send your dates through the contact form and I will call you back.

How long can a cat be left alone?

A healthy adult cat can manage 24 hours without much trouble. Beyond that you want someone checking in daily, because the risks are not about loneliness, they are about a blocked bladder, a knocked-over water bowl, a tipped litter tray or a failed AC unit, and none of those wait for you to get home.

Is a cat sitter better than a cattery?

For most cats, yes. Cats are territorial rather than social, so the move itself is usually the stressful part rather than your absence. A cattery makes more sense if your cat needs supervised medical care, or if your home genuinely cannot be left for other reasons.

What if my cat hides from strangers?

That’s completely normal and I don’t force it. I will always confirm the cat is physically fine, which usually means checking food, water and the litter tray rather than dragging them out from under a bed. Most shy cats come out within a couple of visits anyway.

Which areas do you cover?

Las Vegas, Henderson and Summerlin, including The Ridges, Ascaya and MacDonald Highlands. If you’re slightly outside that area, ask anyway, because it’s often still workable.

Can you give a cat medication?

Yes, including pills, drops and anything on a fixed schedule. We’ll go through exactly what your cat takes, when, and how they normally react to it at the meet and greet before your trip.
