Gillespie’s Personal Assistant

Moving Help in Las Vegas, the Part the Movers Don’t Do

The truck is the easy bit to book. The hard bit is everything around it: waiting for people, chasing utilities, and unpacking enough that the first night is survivable.

Got a move coming? Let’s work out what you actually need covered.

Boxes during a Las Vegas house move

I’m Not a Moving Company

Worth saying plainly up front: I do not own a truck and I am not a licensed carrier. If you need furniture hauled across the valley, hire movers. They are good at it and they are insured for it.

What I do is the surrounding work that no mover covers and that eats your annual leave. Being at the old house when the truck arrives and at the new one when it lands. Waiting for the internet engineer. Collecting keys. Unpacking the kitchen so you can make coffee on day one.

I’m Daniel Gillespie, a 38-year Las Vegas resident, so I also know which bits of this valley are a nuisance to move into and roughly how long anything involving a gated community will really take.

What I Cover

Being there so you don’t have to

Movers, the internet engineer, the locksmith, the cleaner. All the four-hour windows that quietly cost you a week of work.

Packing and unpacking

Boxing things up properly beforehand, or getting the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom usable first on the other end so the first night works.

Thinning out first

Sorting before you pack, so you are not paying to transport boxes you will never open. Donations taken away rather than left in the hall.

The small runs

The carload of things that should not go on a truck, the forgotten box at the old place, the return trip for the key handover.

Leaving the old place right

Final walkthrough, meter readings, cleaners let in, keys returned, and nothing left behind in the garage.

Pets on moving day

Moving day is the single most common day for a pet to bolt through an open door. I can keep them somewhere calm until the doors are shut again.

What It Costs

Quoted per job, because moves vary enormously. Send me your dates and I’ll call you back with a quote. The honest guidance is that the most cost-effective version is usually targeted: pick the two or three days where you genuinely cannot be in two places, rather than booking help for the whole fortnight.

If you want to cut things down before you pack, see home organizing. If you are arriving from out of state, relocating to Las Vegas covers the setup side. For ongoing help after the boxes are gone, see concierge service.

Common Questions

Do you move furniture or drive a truck?

No. I am not a licensed moving company and I do not haul furniture. Hire movers for that, they are insured for it. I handle everything around the move: waiting for people, packing and unpacking, small car runs, and getting the new place working.

Can you be at the house if I cannot?

Yes, and it is the most common reason people book this. I can meet the movers, let in the engineer, do the final walkthrough and handle the key exchange while you are at work or still in another state.

What should I book first if the budget is tight?

Moving day itself, and the day the utilities and internet are being connected. Those are the days where being in two places at once is impossible and where a missed appointment costs you another week.

Which areas do you cover?

Las Vegas, Henderson and Summerlin, including The Ridges, Ascaya and MacDonald Highlands. Gated communities are fine, though access arrangements are worth sorting before the day.
